Airbus Military will offer the C-295 to South African Air Force in three different competitions: for a maritime patrol aircraft, to a maritime surveillance and transport a .
South African Air Force wants to replace its more than veteran C-47 (ten) service in the maritime surveillance, in addition to regain submarine capability, something not seen since the withdrawal of the Avro Shackleton in 1985.
Following the cancellation of its participation in the A400M program, South Africa has only 9 C-130B modernized transport tasks, and a CN-235 and four C-212.
No dates have been announced for any of the programs.
